Multicultural Solutions Project

The Multicultural Solutions Project has been funded un the Local Answers initiative of the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy which is managed by the Federal Government Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FACSIA). The project commenced in March 2005 and will come to an end in June 2008.

The Multicultural Solutions Program will provide a place and a range of support services for migrant families, children and refugees from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to build positive family relationships, enable effective social interaction and facilitate linkages with service providers.

The Project will achieve this by employing a project officer to help the families identify their needs and link them with appropriate support services and referrals.

The Project will provide information to link and educate families on a range of health, social, economic services. The Project covers the communities of Malak, Wanguri, Leanyer, Karama, Millner, Alawa, Nakara, Moil and Wagaman.

The project officer will be based at the MCNT office in Malak. Where appropriate community groups and activities will also be held there. The Project will be measured through level of participation, regular surveys, feedback systems and monitoring of participant referral.
